The exciting debut of Irina Legova as piano soloist in these justly neglected late 20th century Russian masterpieces has been much anticipated.  These searching interpretations are such that she certainly doesn't disappoint, even if the music does!

A MAGICAL MEMENTO OF A  SPECIAL EVENT
THE THRUPIECE PHILHARMONIC HALL INAUGURAL CONCERT
The opening of the new state-of-the-art, made-for-purpose Thrupiece Philharmonic Hall was a momentous event in the life of the Thrupiece Philharmonic Orchestra and its charismatic Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Irina Legova.  No longer the peripatetic band with no home worth its name which it used once to be, the Philharmonic has at last found an acoustic in which to demonstrate its year-on-year improvement and establish itself as agem in the pantheon of great Dorset cultural institutions.
Opened in April 2018 ahead of schedule, the Hall's first concert was, fittingly, that great hymn of praise Hedwig van Bonepiece's Symphony No 9, the so-called "Ode to Roy".  IT was captured in both hi-definition and true digital sound making this download a treasurable reminder of a never-to-be-repeated event.

AN EXCITING RARITY

Piano Works Thrupiece copy.png

Winner of the [delayed] 2019 Loloworth International Piano Competiition Golden Spike Award, piano virtuoso Rabin Huperetic plays selections from the solo piano works of Professor Brian Thrupiece, including several world premiere recordings.  Though Professor Thrupiece wrote the majority of his solo piano pieces early in his compositional career, two - Grand Walz in A flat [Op894] and the Polonaise in A condominium [Op 926] - are mature works exhibiting the highest technical mastery and demanding an uncompromising technique.  As The Dorset Pianist Magazine [Spetember 2022] noted; "Two of the more mature works - recorded for the first time here - the Grand Walz in A flat [Op894] and the Polonaise in A condominium [Op 926] - are mature works exhibiting the highest technical mastery and demanding an uncompromising technique".

THE THRUPIECE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

Founded in 1982, with a significant endowment from the late Professor Brian Thrupiece, the Thrupiece Philharmonic Orchestra is recognised throughout the West Country as one of the leading Dorset orchestras.  Under the direction of well-known conductor and composer Addinsell Threadbone, the Orchestra gained a reputation for championing the music of  West Country composers as well as setting new standards in the more conventional regional repertoire.  Without a home to do full justice to its sonic majesty, the Orchestra has led a peripatetic life, appearing in halls and arenas across the Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and East Anglian regions.  In 2018, however it will move into a new permanent home - the state-of-the-art Thrupiece Philharmonic Hall in the new Arts Complex at Great Heaving, Dorset.

From 2017, the Orchestra will be led by the dynamic and exciting Russian maestro Irina Legova whose specialist knowledge and championship of contemporary Russian composers will take the orchestra in new and welcome directions.  They have already recorded several CDs together in an exciting partnership which Clary Nett, Music Critic of the Minterne Magna Sentinel, described as "a near meeting of minds and an instinctive rapport so precise that they almost finished together".  They appear for the first time on-line through The Thrupiece Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall
