HISTORY

The Hornimint All-Stars Talent Agency was founded in 1948 with the aim of finding gainful employment for all those former "entertainers" whose careers had been so cruelly interrupted - and in some cases undeservedly advanced - by the War.  The original roster comprised "talent" new to the general public as well as a number of stars whose pre-War careers had taken them - far too often - to music halls and other palaces of entertainment the length and breadth of Dorset.  Variety acts stood alongside crooners, semi-serious actors and artists trained in the classical tradition.  Conductor and composer Addinsell Threradbone was an early recruit and a longtime client, bringing to the enterprise a stature and a kudos commensurate with his own reputation.

From that shaky start, the addition of other individuals of varying gifts, experience and quality, added a measure of lustre to the enterprise; to the extent that the Sydling St Nicholas Sun could declare in its Christmas Entertainment Special Supplement of December 1962 that "The Hornimint All-Stars Talent Agency stands chief amongst those organisations managing, inexplicably, to find round holes into which to shoehorn the square pegs on its not inconsiderable, but far from top-notch "available for immediate hire" roster.

Subject to re-organisation, renaming and rebranding in 1972, the agency morphed into Threadbone Artists' Management, a combination of the original agency and the emerging-talent specialists bureau Threadbone Managed Entertainment.  By "cornering the market" in this way and creating a virtual monopoly of Dorset entertainers, the merger enlarged [but did not necessarily strengthen] the overall pool of available talent for hire, simplified the booking system and reduced flexibility for impresarios and venue managers, whilst hugely increasing agent fees across the industry.

Today Threadbone Artists' Management under the inspired direction of Mrs Amanda J Threadbone, is considered Dorset's premiere artists' management company.  It is the recipient of numerous awards including - serially between 1972 and 2020 - the Amanda J Threadbone Award for Best Artist Management Company.
