Threadbone Dorset Primavera Festival Production Announced

Threadbone Dorset Primavera Festival organisers have announced that this year's festival will be centred around the first Dorset staging of the internationally acclaimed "feel good" musical A Devonian in Dorset. Mounted in co-operation with The Truly Useless Company (who recently brought Twist! before a grateful West Country public) the show will star Anton Tapp-Schuss and Hermione Danzin-Pummpes, the originators of the roles during the show's first (Ealing) Broadway run.

Set to the evergreen and ever-popular toe-tapping songs of co-writer brothers Fernando and Alberto Mediantepieza, the hugely successful musical extravaganza tells the story of demobbed auxiliary fire officer and budding Devon-born set designer/choreographer Terry Mulligatawny's attempts to write an authentic Dorset ballet for the Fontell Magna Opera whilst simultaneously courting an ingenue ballet dancer (Lise Carr-Rentals) and a Bradford Peverell heiress (Pilo Krappe) whose illegitimate son (Loda) has turned his back on the stage to pursue a life in culinary bio-ethics. With the bitter feuds of the Drexit campaign in occupied Gussage St Andrew as background, heartbreak and heartache seem inevitable but, as is the way with all great art, love is here to stay!

A Devonian in Dorset opens the Festival at the Pier End Theatre Lyme Regis on April 10th and a star-studied audience is expected to attend the opening night. Organisers say they have the red carpet ready and that of the 20 celebrities invited, two have already replied "disappointingly". Nothing, however, can dampen enthusiasm for the Dorset premiere of this must see family friendly over 18s only feast of a musical which is going to be 'S Wonderful according to those who haven't seen it yet.

The original (Ealing) Broadway Cast Recording is available on HORNIMINT RECORDS from the orinoco store
