Incriminating Photograph Finally Exposed As "Brilliant Fake"

Forensic experts from the Threadbone Laboratories have finally proven "beyond reasonable doubt" that a photographic purporting to prove a clear connection between the late Professor Brian Thrupiece and the assassination of President John F Kennedy is a "brilliant fake".

The photograph - which bears an uncanny similarity to the one used to frame Lee Harvey Oswald - appears to show the late professor in his Dorset back garden posing with the Mannlicher Carcano rifle prosecutors believe to have been used to fire the fatal shots on that fateful November day in 1963.

Suspicion first fell on Professor Thrupiece as a result of allegations (since proven well-founded) that he spent time in Cuba in and around the time of the famous Bay of Pigs fiasco. Those familiar with Professor Brian Thrupiece & the Cuban Conference (based on the testimony of former Hotel Riviera, Havana cleaner Guadalupe Estevan Famosa y Fernández García and published in 2016 by The Threadbone Press) will be familiar with the incident in which a small group of volunteers led by Professor Thrupiece were apprehended whilst attempting to land Gloucester Old Spots on a deserted beach in a vain effort to encourage Cuban bioethical diversity and improve the sales of hog roast on the island.

Proof of the Professor's involvement in Cuban affairs more generally (he organised an important RSCBE Conference in Havana in the early 1960s) together with damning evidence of his acquaintance with Cuban rebel leader Fidel Castro, led the CIA and other agencies to "put two and two together" and link him with Cuban interests implicated in the Kennedy assassination plot. Though no charges were ever brought against the Professor, the photograph of him holding the fatal weapon "in trophy style" was long thought to be of damning significance and dogged him for a significant period in the late 1960s. However a FOI request lodged by the thrupiece organisation in 1984 (15 years before FOI requests were even possible and, therefore, not granted until 2016) led to the release of the photograph for deeper forensic testing and it is these tests - based on highly accurate and ground-breaking photogrammetric techniques including micro granular spectral-phase analysis - which have lead experts to expose the photograph as a sophisticated fake.

"Whilst it is clear that the photograph was "manufactured" by interests keen either to close the case or discredit the Professor - or perhaps both - nothing in the tests indicates precisely who was responsible for tampering with the photograph' said Thrupiece Laboratory spokesperson Dr Ana Lisis. "All we can say with certainty is that the perpetrators were clever and used highly advanced methods which probably means top level secret service. Like MOSSAD or the CIA or MI5 or KGB or possibly even the Corfe Mullen Weekly Inquirer .... know what I mean? I have probably said too much already."
