The much anticipated trulyuselesscompany's national tour production of the musical TWIST! comes to The Cattlemarket Theatre, Buckland Ripers this week and, despite a controversial price-hike, is expected to play to packed houses. Theatre spokeswoman Imelda Booking confirmed that several of the performances were already sold out whilst others had only top price seats available, cheaper ones having been snapped up by impoverished pensioners and other importunates with nothing better to do in the afternoons.
Based on the card game by Charles Dickens, TWIST tells the tale of a small boy who, abandoned by his parents when he fails to get a five card trick, falls into the hands of London poker sharks, but manages to escape with the help of kindly casino owner Mr Brownbone who slips him pontoon. The musical ends as the boy takes the high road to Cambridge where he will use his winnings to study culinary bio-ethics at Magdalene College.
Ticket prices start at £15 (Children, OAPs, Outpatients) and rise to £55 for non-restricted views. Those unable to afford the show are encouraged to purchase the Poster - available from the trulyuselesscompany's digital portal. The tour moves on to the People's Theatre, Hamworthy next week.
