Both the Art and the Book worlds were surprised and delighted to learn today of the latest addition to the growing list of DHRA sponsored "Art for the Ignorant Masses" titles in the form of Thrupiece Abroad: Sketches from Kent and East Sussex (1996-2002). Part of the DHRA's initiative to bring culture "to those who wouldn't otherwise know it if it stepped up and bit them in the arse" (Mrs Amanda J Threadbone) the "Art for the Ignorant Masses" Series aims to make great art available to all, with the solemn promise that all of its volumes will be "easily affordable" costing no more than £50 each.
Thrupiece Abroad: Sketches from Kent and East Sussex (1996-2002) is according to DHRA Access and Diversity Officer Stella Access-Diversity, " a from comprehensive and only very partially representative sample of the late Professor Brian Thrupiece's artwork". It appears before the public for the first time in a quality imprint from well known coffee-table stable The Threadbone Press using the company's latest arsdigita™ technology. The stylish volume which, according to Ms Access-Diversity "looks as good in the conservatory as it does in the lounge" boasts more than 20 pages of fine reproductions of works from the Professor's experimental (1996-2002) period when, in addition to searching for his own artistic persona, he was also searching for his spectacles. Experts believe that this alone may explain some of the appalling lapses of taste starkly recreated here.
The volume is available as a hard back, softback, difital downlaod and flipbook™. Indivisual prints can be ordered from The Threadbone Gallery and Coffee Shop, Fishpond Bottom. Prices vary.
