Threadbonemeals - the Dorset-based Garden Centre chain - has announced a Mid-May Bank Holiday Weekend sale designed to get the green-fingered fingering with a Spring in their step. Squeezed between the official Early May and Spring Bank Holidays (not observed in South west Dorset) this "little extra" for those "with gardening in their blood and an eye for the outdoor life" is just the ticket this weekend which is traditionally wet, boring and "a bit of a let down" (Dorset Meteorological Services Daily Update).

All Threadbonemeals branches will participate in the event, but there are extra special offers at the Great Heaving, Bridport and Cripplestyle Superstores where anyone downloading a voucher from the Threadbonemeals website can obtain a £10 discount on any purchase over £500 (one voucher per extended family).

Head of Marketing and Promotions Will Barrow expects the events to be a big success and predicts a run on cakes and fruit scones in the outlets' integral cafe facilities. "I expect the events to be a big success" he said, "and I predict a run on cakes and fruit scones in the outlets' integral cafe facilities". Asked if the superstores had made provision for this anticipated extra demand, he was clear: "Oh yes we have made sure we have plenty of "Apologies for the Shortage of Cakes and Fruit Scones Notices" printed and these will be ready to be deployed as soon as stocks run out."

Thrreadbonemeals which has won the Amanda J Threadbone Gardening Centre of the Year Award a record 17 times is the leading Dorset provider of Garden Centres to the public and guarantees all its plants will still be alive by the time its customers get them home. "We would offer the same warranty on our garden furniture range if we could", Mr Barrow added, "though that would be foolish, given our experience. Instead we offer a "caveat emptor" clause which no-one understands until its too late." Memorial benches start at £300 with memorial poles ranging from 8-15 feet.

The green-fingered are encouraged to get down to their nearest Threadbonemeal Superstore to harvest the goodies on offer this Mid-May Bank Holiday.
