The Threadbone Opera has announced that Irina Legova will lead the Company in the UK premiere of Olga Thrupova's operatic masterpiece "The Enchanted Night". The premiere will take place at The Hermitage Royal Opera House, Hermitage, Dorset on 5-7 August 2017. Though the full cast has yet to be announced, HROH has confirmed that the Thrupiece Philharmonic Orchestra will be in the pit and that the all important Boys Chorus will be provided by choristers drawn from the Cerne Abbas Cathedral Choir School. It is believed that leading counter-tenor Hylie Strungge will sing Male Fairy and soprano Di Aphenous, Female Fairy.
Videographer and Experimental Director Leits Camera-Aktion will design the production, whilst the Director will be Serge Overcoat best known for his work at the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg,
A spokesperson for the Company, Olive Greene-Roome, stressed the significance of the event: the opera has been heard only once before and never outside Ms Thrupova's native Russia. "It demonstrates and seals Ms Legova's commitment to bringing the music of her country before the West Country public. She has always championed the work of female composers and Ms Thrupova was female at the time of the work's composition though it is true to say that her gender was later reassigned." Asked if Ms Thrupova was likely to attend the premiere, Ms Greene-Roome expressed her doubts: "It's very doubtfful", she said, "she died in 2006 and hasn't been seen in public since."
The Threadbone Opera has pulled off what is widely considered to be a major coup by staging the Uk Premiere of Olga Thrupova's The Enchanted Night.
