Inquiries by investigative reporters from the Sydling St Nicholas Sun under new GDPR have forced Dorset Threadbone Telecom to release details of several telephone conversations between CEO, CIO and President Mrs Amanda J Threadbone and world famous Culinary Bio-ethics Professor Brian Thrupiece. Whilst many have been redacted for "national security reasons", those that remain provide Thrupiece-watchers with a fascinating and intimate insight into a relationship forged in both good and challenging times.
Of critical interest is a conversation in May 1959 when the then 19 year old Professor was on the verge of the fourth stage in his career just a year into his degree course at Magdalene College, Cambridge. The growing influence of his mentor and Director of Studies Dr Kenwood Cheffe is clear:
AJT: So what are you up to today dear?
PBT: Oh the usual ... I'll be seeing old Cheffie later on. I have to say he's a growing influence.
AJT: In what way dear?
PBT: I've stopped wearing pajamas.
Another conversation attracting much interest - according to Sydling St Nicholas Sun editor Ron Sleaze - is one which took place in November 1962. The line was clearly poor and not every word can be transcribed:
AJT: So what are you [indistinct] today dear?
PBT: Oh the [indistinct] ... I'll be seeing [indistinct] later on. I have to say she's a growing [indistinct "influence"?].
AJT: Does she have [indistinct]?
PBT: Absolutely! The [indistinct] I've ever [indistinct "plucked?"].
AJT: Well be [indistinct] careful ... she's very [indistinct "young?"]
Finally, in what may be the most significant conversation of all, an emotional Mrs Threadbone was told of important developments in the Professor's life.
AJT: Hello Brian... How's tricks old bean?
PBT: Oh the usual ... I think I may just have had a major breakthrough with the fluff project and more importantly the Thrupiece Tables
AJT: Hasn't Audrey been working on that too?
PBT: Yes she has but ... [indistinct]
AJT: Will you be round for a snifter later?
PBT: Would love to dear but I'm just off to Switzerland.
Ron Sleaze believes that - though no reliable date can be ascertained for the call - this is the first reference to Swiss travel and may mark the start of a relationship with that 26 canton highly mountainous non-EU Federal Republic the end game of which is, as we know, tinged with tragic resonance. "Listening to that is just spooky - even for a hardened old hack like me. When I heard it I had goosebumps, realising that I had just eavesdropped on something very special. Serialisation rights flashed before me. It was very emotional".
