Message Received And (Almost Understood)

Today's heartwarming message from the Heart of Midlothian was to be accompanied by an image of Mrs Threadbone, though problems of interference from the Cairngorms proved insurmountable.

In what has been hailed as a telecommunications first for the Threadbone Corporation's Threadbone Narrow-band Dial Up Digital Platform Service, today's www.professorthrupiece.com communication comes directly from Scotland [Écosse]. In celebration of Mrs Amanda J Threadbone's second only visit to the semi-nation's capital Edinburgh, a special message has been sent on behalf of the multi-national Corporation's CEO, CIO, President, Chair and Chief Guiding Spirit.

It was received at the Corporation's Great Heaving Headquarters' Telecommunications Reception Facility at 09.00 hours GMT [09.08 hours Dorset Standard Time) exactly 45 minutes after it was broadcast from the ramparts of Edinburgh castle and reads as follows:

" I _m d_ligh_ed to b_ s_eak_ng t_ y_u al_ - thr_ug_ t_e mirac_le of tech_o_ogy tha_ is t_e wo_ld-_ide inter-w_b - f_rom t_e nob_e cap_t+l of S_co_land - E_inb_rg_. Sinc_r+ly M_rs Am_nd_ J T_rea_bo+e. [Enr_qu_ p_eas_ put tha_ aw_y f_r go_dne_s sa_e - you'+l h_ve my ey_ o+ut.]"*

* NB Experts have advised that the section in brackets may not originally have been intended

for broadcast.

Threadbone Laboratory Scientists have described the recording, transmission and receipt of the heartwarming message as "a small step for telecommunications but a giant leap for the Threadbone Corporation". They added that no further communications could be expected today as (a) they had stretched present telecommunications technology to its limits and (b) they had run out of coins for the (Scottish) meter.

**** HERE ENDETH THE COMMUNICATION ****
