Difficult Times; Difficult Choices

In these confusing pre-inter-post-Drexit times, few questions are proving more challenging to the ordinary man and woman on the street than this: which 2019 calendar should the patriotic Dorsetophile purchase for loved ones and relatives this Christmas? Up until now the clear front runner has been the inspired Professor Thrupiece on the Isle of Wight - a magisterial photographic odyssey that has garnered more awards than the Great Dorset Bakeoff winner Manny Cakes's Baking with Bicarbonate. [For further details, see HERE] Featuring outstanding imagery as well as an unprecedented density of educational content, it is a feast for the eye and brain alike and quite unlike any other of the many calendars on offer this year. But now the supremacy of that undisputed treasure is finally challenged by the ©DHRA's all new 2019 Beautiful Dorset Calendar - a late entry but without question a serious contender for any obsessive amateur horologist's attention.

The sheer number of calendars now on sale to the public makes for a bewildering choice. This small selection is from the Threadbone Press's Home and Nature Range - one of 75 series dedicated to satisfying even the most avaricious horologist.

Traditionalists will immediately embrace the new DHRA offering and will have been awaiting its arrival with increasingly painful anticipation, whilst those with an eye to great photography and brilliant graphic design may still prefer the Professor Thrupiece on the Isle of Wight imprint. For the undecided, however, an ace in the pack may come in the form of an especially-penned introduction to the DHRA’s stylish and surprisingly competitive offering by none other than DHRA President [FOR LIFE] Mrs Amanda J Threadbone. In a thoughtful essay - which lays bare a soul hitherto kept keenly private - Mrs Threadbone admits to having a number of holes left "almost completely untouched" in the wake of the death of her husband - the late and still scandalously unmemorialised (pole-wise) Mr Threadbone. Happily she also reveals that these same holes have now been more than adequately filled by the massive presence of ex Spanish Boy Scout Enrique (de los Chico’s Perditos) - a much younger man with "a point to prove". Physical and Mental Well-being Expert - Sarah Tonin - believes that the presence of the calendar "in and around the home" may have the same uplifting effect on those feeling the winter blues as Enrique clearly has on the person of Mrs Threadbone . “I believe that the presence of the calendar "in and around the home" may have the same uplifting effect on those feeling the winter blues as Enrique clearly has on the person of Mrs Threadbone ...” she said, adding that even as a hardened professional in the personal well-beingness arena, she herself had holes that needed a good and regular seeing to. So has the calendar helped? It would appear so. "I bought the DHRA calendar direct from the Association and already I feel £s lighter” she said.

The ©DHRA's all new 2019 Beautiful Dorset Calendar is available on the high street (whilst the high street lasts) from Threadstones quality booksellers and from the orinoco store as as well as - as a digital download - from the DHRA websitedirect priced at only £15.99
